MJ Harnish First Impressions: The Committee for the Exploration of Mysteries

I finally got a chance to sit down with my local gaming group last night and play The Committee for the Exploration of Mysteries last night. My first impression is "Wow!" All of us were brand new to the game with 6 players total (it's a GM-less game). Only I had read the rules prior to the session. Within an hour we had generated our characters and finished the outline of our adventure. I decided to play "Sin Jin Lee, Kung Fu master."… Continue

lowbrowgames Skype gaming and stuff

Things played since last time: Tsoy with local skype group Polaris - JC, Joey and Filip. Never thought Polaris has that much rules and things to learn. It took about two hours to grok them and only JC played it before and had a book. The rest was a bit o Polish humor and a game. We skipped a few details because of fast forward mode(not enough time to really get into every scene) but still there was some emotional impact. Other: Made pierogi(taste great!) and change the video in Punk-as-fuck-gam… Continue

MJ Harnish Recommended Reading

There are a lot of great books, articles, forum posts, and blogs out there that anyone who is interested in crafting their skills at being a GM and/or player should read. lowbrowgames What's new?

Let's see. There was this imho first session on Pixels & Polyhedrons. We played Trollbabe. The game was fun and kinda strong in the scenes and choices. To sum it up - it was fucking hardcore, man. Pictures of Novalyne(trollbabe I've played) soon. Another news - I change the video in Punk-As-Fuck-Games to highlight another suicidal punk hero - Darby Crash from The Germs. Continue

Orklord Falconer Chronicles - yay

I just ran another session of my lone wolf Lacuna game. that's 3 sessions I have to write up for AP. This game is sooo fun. Over half of the game was in the real world where Lacuna has no rules, so it was completely free form. I snuck in a Blue City plot in a dream sequence that could also have been a flashback, just enough to let the player get his tenth commendation point. He's now ready to be promoted to senior agent, but I left that for the next session because the game ran long and I have… Continue

MJ Harnish What I'm playing

Here's what I'm up to at the moment: My Life with Master - Master Schalmeister wants to ring every last drop of happiness and joy out of the villagers' lives. I'm running this game on Monday nights using Battlegrounds VT. Prohibition Demons - this is a PbP game in which I play an ex-boxer, turned detective. It uses the PDQ system. Dark Matters - Set in the port city of Five Fingers in the Iron Kingdoms, the players are members of the City's Watch who are tasked wit… Continue
